Kawai ES120 Digital Piano
Weighing in at just 12.5kg, the Kawai ES120 is a high-specification, low price portable digital piano. The ES120 introduces features previously not seen at this price point, including Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Concert Grand piano voice, Bluetooth MIDI + Audio connectivity, GFP3 triple pedal compatibility, ¼" Jack outputs, and registration memories.
Built around Kawai's improved Responsive Hammer Action III keyboard, the ES-120 digital piano provides an extremely satisfying piano experience. The 10w + 10w amplification output provides a full-bodied sound that belies the small form-factor cabinet design, whilst the choice of 25 different instrument voices makes the instrument versatile enough to cover many different musical tastes & styles.
The ES120 keyboard can be split for playing two different sounds at the same time - for example - piano / acoustic bass, or it is possible to layer two voices together for layered sound textures such as piano + strings.
The piano can be controlled using the popular Kawai PianoRemote app for iOS or Android devices, and it is also compatible with the PiaBookPlayer score viewer app.
Available in two colours - black or premium white finishes, Kawai has also made available a new stylish wooden keyboard stand to make the ES120 look great in the home, as well as being a solid performer on stage or at rehearsals.
More Information
Improved RHIII keyboard action
A very important consideration when buying a new piano is the 'feel' of the keyboard - known as the Keyboard Action. A good keyboard action will ensure the player feels connected to the instrument and results in a more enjoyable playing experience. The Kawai ES120 features an improved RHIII keyboard with cushioning & a new mid-rail to reduce both mechanical noise by 10% and prevent release 'bounce'.
25 Instrument Sounds
The ES120 features the sound of 25 different instruments including a choice of acoustic grand & upright pianos, electric pianos, organs, strings, choir, synthesizer and other voices. Two sounds can be layered together or split across the keyboard so you play one voice with your right hand and another with the left.
Metronome
Practice with a metronome is very important to improve your timing. The ES120 has a built-in metronome that offers all the popular time signatures, as well as 100 drum rhythms to make practice even more fun!
Internal Song Recorder
When practicing, the ability to be able to record and listen to your performance is very useful. The ES120 allows up to 3 songs to be recorded into it's internal memory. The total memory capacity is 15,000 notes. You can use the recorder to either record a complete performance, or just record one hand part of a piece and practice the other part whilst playing back the recording.
Headphones
It is possible to connect two sets of headphones to the Kawai ES120 for practicing without disturbing others in the household. The headphone output is enhanced with Kawai's Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS) to make playing with headphones just as enjoyable as through the instrument's own speaker system.
Bluetooth
There are two types of Bluetooth connectivity in the context of digital pianos. Bluetooth Audio allows you to stream the sound from your portable device through the speaker system of the ES120. This means you can playalong with backing tracks produced on the device or streamed from the internet. Bluetooth MIDI allows the digital piano to communicate with a wide variety of music-related apps from Kawai and other third-party developers, providing an exciting way to enjoy the piano without the need for additional adapters or cables. Kawai's PianoRemote app uses Bluetooth MIDI to communicate with the ES120.
Registration Memories
Registration memories provide a way of storing your favourite settings in the piano. For example, you may like to always play a particular piece using a piano voice mixed with choir. Once you have set up the sound combination and adjusted the levels of each voice, you can store this as a 'registration; for instant recall. It saves you time and is a convenient way to set up the piano quickly.
Reverb Effect
The reverb effect adds ambience to the overall sound of the piano. There are various different reverb settings to give the effect of playing on stage, in a concert hall or in a cathedral, plus many more. Reverb adds a nice 'professional touch' to the overall sound.
Amplification & Speakers
The onboard 10w + 10w amplifier drives two 12cm speakers for a good quality sound output.
External Connections
Two headphone connectors are provided so that more than one person can hear the sound of the ES120 at the same time. Standard ¼" Jack outputs are available for connection to external amplification. The USB to Host connection is to be used for connection to computers, and there are two pedal connectors (DAMPER + PEDAL).
