The Yamaha NU1XA is an advanced Hybrid piano featuring a keyboard action and hammer mechanism that is very close in design to that found in a traditional acoustic piano. This means the player will enjoy a musical experience similar to playing an upright piano but with the benefits and convenient features associated with a digital piano. Unlike acoustic pianos, Hybrid instruments don't have strings, a soundboard, or an iron frame, so they never require tuning or the regular maintenance associated with acoustic pianos.

The new touch panel interface disappears when not in use to maintain the traditional piano appearance. The AvantGrand NU1XA is available in both polished ebony and polished white finishes.

Upright Piano Keyboard Action
A new articulation sensor system has been developed for the NU1X-A's real upright piano action that is more accurate than ever - even when playing fast, repetitive notes. Newly developed contactless magnetic induction sensors on the key and hammer of every note integrate seamlessly with the sound engine to translate your emotion and expression and ensure you have the most enjoyable playing experience possible.
Pedals That 'Feel' Like a Grand Piano
The GrandTouchTM Pedals adopt a fulcrum structure similar to a grand piano, delivering the same expressive and familiar pedal-pressing feel. You'll notice the shape of the metal pedals is also similar to that of a grand piano.
Yamaha's GP Response Damper Pedal offers a grand piano-style resistance curve, starting out light to the touch and growing heavier as the pedal is depressed further. This allows players to become accustomed to the nuances of delicate pedalling, including half-pedalling techniques.
World-Class Piano Voices
The NU1XA lets you enjoy playing with the voices of the CFX, Yamaha’s top-flight concert grand piano and the piano of choice at competitions worldwide, and the warm tones of the Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano, all on a single instrument. These voices are produced using new samples to give an even fuller sound than ever before.
The NU1XA features four additional piano voices that authentically reproduce the sound of the “fortepiano” from the 1700s and 1800’s. These let you experience the characteristic sounds of the pianos of those eras in which famed composers such as Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin lived and allow you to deepen your understanding of the composer’s intentions in the scores written during those times.
There are a total of 28 voices available for your own performance, including harpsichord, organ, e-pianos and mixtures of sounds, including piano+pad, piano+strings and more.

The NU1XA has a superb built-in amplification & speaker system, ample enough to fill even the largest living spaces.
