Kawai Novus NV10s Hybrid Piano

The Kawai Novus NV10s Hybrid Piano bridges the gap between an acoustic grand and a digital instrument. By combining the keyboard of an acoustic grand piano with the sound of a digital piano, Kawai has produced an instrument with an authentic & expressive key touch that offers all the benefits of digital piano technology including a large choice of voices, headphone output, Bluetooth connectivity, and more.

The NV10s model is the next step in Kawai's upright hybrid piano range. Following in the footsteps of the popular NV10, the NV10s boasts a refreshed touchscreen graphical operating system and compatibility with Kawai's Piano Remote app.

Five Year Manufacturer Backed Warranty

Every Kawai Novus hybrid piano purchased brand new from Bonners is also sold with a standard 5-year manufacturer-backed warranty for complete peace of mind. In the unlikely event of any issues, Bonners will arrange for a Kawai engineer to visit your location to attend to any servicing requirements.

What Is A Hybrid Piano?
A Hybrid Piano usually refers to a digital piano that has the keyboard action and mechanism taken from a traditional acoustic piano. This results in a more authentic touch and musical experience for the player when compared with traditional digital-only pianos. The sound is generated electronically, so Hybrid pianos never require tuning and the other regular maintenance associated with acoustic pianos.

Hybrid pianos such as the Kawai Novus NV10s allow the use of headphones for the times when you want to practice without disturbing other people in the household or neighboring properties. Quite simply, the Novus NV10s gives you all the benefits of a digital piano, whilst retaining the delicate, responsive touch of a traditional acoustic grand.

Keyboard Action, Hammers & Dampers
The felt hammers in the NV10s action have been replaced with ABS equivalents, and are individually graded in weight from the bass register to the treble, resulting in long-lasting reliability without compromising performance.

Optical sensors take the place of the piano strings and accurately measure the velocity and speed of the hammer movements to ensure a natural response is experienced by the performing musician.

The NV10s features a grand piano damper mechanism. Although there are no strings in the NV10s, the inclusion of traditional dampers reproduces the weighting of a grand piano sustain pedal and also eases the keyboard's resistance when the pedal is pressed. This particular feature is unique to the Kawai NOVUS NV10s and has so far not been included in hybrid pianos from other manufacturers.

Sound Reproduction
The NOVUS NV10s features the sound of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano. This particular piano is one of the finest grand pianos in the World and is authentically recreated in the NV10s. This piano sound is used in other high-performance Kawai digital pianos, but in the NOVUS NV10s, it is further enhanced by 1-bit processing, premium dual DACs, and DIDRC filter and amplification technology powered by Japan’s leading high-end audio manufacturer, Onkyo.

The Novus NV10s is one of the very best digital instruments on the market for practicing for exams, performances, and recitals, as well as being the perfect premium-grade instrument for discerning beginners who want to learn piano but require the convenient functions of a digital instrument.

The optical hammer sensing system ensures that every nuance and subtlety of your performance is replicated by the instrument.

SK-EX Rendering sound engine with multi-channel piano sampling
Kawai has been manufacturing Acoustic pianos for over 90 years, and their latest flagship instrument is the magnificent Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Concert Grand. Kawai has meticulously sampled (recorded) the sound of the SK-EX Concert Grand using multi-channel recording techniques and it is this sound that you hear when you first play the NV10s. There is, of course, a huge range of different piano tones for a wide range of musical tastes, plus other voices such as E.PIano, Harpsichord, Strings, Organ and more. The NV10s is certainly versatile and it allows you to practice both traditional acoustic piano music, as well as being more creative by using the other instrument voices.

Premium audio processing, amplification, and speaker technologies powered by Onkyo
With such beautiful instrument voices present in the NV10s, Kawai needed an audio system to do justice to their new instrument. Kawai has partnered with high-end hi-fi audio manufacturer Onkyo to produce the amplification systems in their prestigious musical instruments. The NV10s features a massive 135W (45W x 3) Onkyo amplification system which drives the TwinDrive Soundboard Speaker System and 8 cm x 4 (Onkyo top speakers) plus 2 cm x 2 (Onkyo dome tweeters).

Integrated Bluetooth MIDI and audio for wireless communication with smart devices
Tradition meets the future with the Novus NV10s. it is possible to stream audio from your smart device or computer using wireless Bluetooth technology. The sound of your favourite tracks is enhanced with the combination of Onkyo amplification and Kawai Soundboard Speaker system. Bluetooth MIDI compatibility enables the connection of the piano to your favourite recording apps & software - all completely wirelessly, including the handy"Piano Remote" app from Kawai.

Touchscreen Interface
The Novus NV10s is operated by using a familiar 5" LCD touchscreen display which is running Kawai's latest digital piano operating system. Navigation through the menus to change voices, set the metronome, and record your performance is all very intuitive, and you can even name and save your favourite voice combinations for recall at a later time.

The display hides when not in use and blends into the shiny black finish of the Novus cabinet to retain the piano's traditional appearance.

Virtual Technician - Customise Your Piano
The popular Virtual Technician function allows access to 19 adjustable parameters such as Voicing (incl. 88-key User Voicing), Damper Resonance, Damper Noise, String Resonance, Cabinet Resonance, Tuning, Touch, and a large number of other technical details which allow you to create your own unique piano sound. It is possible to store your own piano voices in the memory of the NV10s for instant recall.

Record Your performance
There's nothing more pleasing than to be able to record your performance and listen back - whether for pleasure or for checking your progress when learning difficult musical passages. The Kawai Novus NV10s has a convenient WAV/MP3/MIDI file record and playback facility which records directly to USB memory (not supplied). This makes sharing your music with family and friends extremely easy.
