Gretsch G6128T-GH George Harrison Signature Duo Jet; Black: Serial No: JT11072811 | Second Hand

Gretsch G6128T-GH George Harrison Signature Duo Jet | Second Hand

The Gretsch G6128T-GH Duo Jet is a faithful recreation of the guitar Harrison often referred to as his "first real decent guitar." This signature model specifically honours the 1957 Duo Jet that George purchased second-hand in Liverpool, which went on to define the early, punchy sound of the Beatles. It features a mid-50s style chambered mahogany body paired with a 3-ply laminated maple top, a combination that provides the structural depth of a solid-body with the characteristic airy resonance of a semi-hollow instrument. The mahogany neck is carved into a comfortable "U" shape profile and is topped with a 12-inch radius rosewood fingerboard, adorned with classic hump-block pearloid inlays. The deep black gloss finish and silver plexi pickguard complete the mid-century aesthetic, offering a guitar that looks and feels like a true piece of rock and roll history.

Staying true to the specific eccentricities of George's original instrument, this model is equipped with a pair of DynaSonic single-coil pickups. These pickups are renowned for their high-fidelity response, offering a percussive snap and a bright, clear top-end that distinguishes the Duo Jet from later Filter'Tron-equipped models. The hardware is equally period-specific, featuring a Bigsby B3C vibrato tailpiece with a "black Phillips head" handle pivot bolt - a detail meticulously replicated from the original guitar - alongside a rocking bar bridge on a pinned rosewood base. This setup ensures stable intonation and tuning reliability even when utilising the vibrato for subtle pitch modulation. With Grover Sta-Tite tuners and a premium hardshell case, this Duo Jet serves as a professional-grade tool for players who value the chime, clarity, and vintage soul of the early 1960s.
