First introduced in 1961 as an evolution of the Les Paul™, the SG™ (short for "solid guitar") quickly became a legend in its own right. The SG Standard ‘61 stays true to the original, featuring a SlimTaper™ mahogany neck and bound rosewood fingerboard for fast, comfortable playability. Its mahogany body showcases deep body contouring, a 5-ply teardrop pickguard, and a 22nd-fret neck joint for superior upper fret access.
The nickel-plated hardware includes the reliable Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Keystone tuners, while the 60s Burstbucker™ humbuckers provide classic tones with added power and bright top-end. Controls are fitted with audio taper potentiometers and Orange Drop® capacitors for smooth, responsive adjustments.
