Gibson Montana Hummingbird Special; Satin Vintage Sunburst
This is the one that stands out in any room — the new Gibson Hummingbird Special. Based on one of the most iconic acoustic guitars ever made, this U.S.-built model brings all the Hummingbird’s signature style and tone into a more accessible package, without compromising what makes it legendary.
Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, the Hummingbird Special features a solid Sitka spruce top and genuine solid mahogany back and sides, delivering that familiar warm, balanced tone with plenty of dynamic range. Whether you’re fingerpicking folk tunes or laying into strummed chords, it responds beautifully. It’s built with scalloped X-bracing for extra resonance and projection, and the slightly thinner “concert depth” body gives it a tighter, more focused low end — perfect for modern mixes and super comfy to hold.
The neck is made from utile and shaped into a comfortable Round profile that feels great from the get-go. It’s joined to the body using a traditional compound dovetail neck joint and hot hide glue, just like Gibson’s highest-end acoustics. The rosewood fingerboard has a 12” radius and features those unmistakable pearloid parallelogram inlays, giving the Hummingbird its instantly recognizable flair. With 20 standard frets, it’s ready for both rhythm and lead work.
Onboard you’ll find a TUSQ saddle, nut, and bridge pins for precise tone transfer and intonation, while a set of Grover Rotomatic tuners keeps everything locked in. The iconic Hummingbird pickguard returns too — simplified in this model, but still unmistakably classic.
When it’s time to plug in, the Hummingbird Special is already equipped with L.R. Baggs Element Bronze electronics, including a discreet soundhole-mounted volume control. It’s a true stage-ready acoustic, delivering clear, natural tone whether you're recording or performing live.
Finished in smooth satin nitrocellulose lacquer, you can pick it up in either Satin Vintage Cherry Sunburst or Satin Wine Red — both as classy as they are timeless. A premium soft shell case is included too, so it’s ready to hit the road whenever you are.
