Designed through a close collaboration between the Rush legend and Gibson’s R&D team, the Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess Standard is a modern reimagining of the classic single-cutaway formula. While it retains the iconic mahogany body and carved maple top with a AAA flame veneer, the "Axcess" designation introduces several ergonomic refinements tailored for high-performance playing. A sculpted neck heel provides a seamless transition to the upper frets, while a "Comfort-Carve" belly scarf on the back of the mahogany body allows the instrument to sit closer to the player. The neck features a custom Lifeson profile, a rounded yet fast shape that balances vintage feel with contemporary speed and paired with a 22-fret fingerboard and a 12-inch radius for effortless bends and technical runs.
The true utility of this signature model lies in its sophisticated electronics and hardware package, which effectively turns the Les Paul into a tonal chameleon. It is equipped with an Epiphone Ceramic Pro in the neck and a ProBucker 3 in the bridge, both of which offer push-pull coil-splitting for access to glassy single-coil textures. The most notable inclusion is the Graph Tech Ghost Floyd Rose system, which replaces standard saddles with piezo-loaded versions to deliver surprisingly realistic acoustic tones. By utilising the dual output jacks, the traditional magnetic output and the "Life-O-Sound" piezo jack, players can route their electric and acoustic signals to separate amplifiers or blend them into a single mono signal.
