Digitech Badder Monkey Overdrive Guitar Pedal
Digitech Badder Monkey Overdrive Guitar Pedal
The long-awaited return of the Bad Monkey is here: Reborn as the Badder Monkey.
Built on the iconic Bad Monkey overdrive, it now features two new circuits (Behaved and Badder) and our patent-pending 360° “Barrel” control, unlocking hundreds of unique drive blends.
Add in Troop Mode for all 3 circuits at once, flexible EQ with “Grunt” (Low) and “Screech” (High) controls, plus the reversible StagePlate for stage or pedalboard use.
From subtle breakup to roaring rock tones, the Badder Monkey is designed to outshine expectations.
Features
The BARREL (Blend) control manages the mix of three independent, parallel overdrive circuits labelled Behaved, Bad, and Badder. Rotating the BARREL control blends any two of these circuits. The control features physical detents at the Behaved, Bad, and Badder positions. When set to any of these detents, only the selected overdrive circuit is active, enabling the use of the pure tone of a single circuit when desired.
The Bad circuit is identical to the original Bad Monkey overdrive. When the BARREL control is set to the Bad position, the pedal delivers the same tonal character that made the original Bad Monkey widely favoured by musicians.
The Mode Toggle Switch determines how the Bad circuit interacts with the Behaved and Badder circuits. In the upper switch position, indicated by an upright Bad Monkey icon, the Bad overdrive circuit operates in phase with the Behaved and Badder circuits.
In the lower switch position, indicated by an inverted Bad Monkey icon, the Bad circuit operates out of phase with the Behaved and Badder circuits. This out-of-phase operation introduces phase cancellation at selected frequencies, resulting in additional tonal variation in blended overdrive sounds and enabling fuzz-like textures.
In the middle switch position, labelled TROOP mode, the BARREL control is inactive and all three overdrive circuits are mixed evenly and in phase, producing expanded tonal variety with rich harmonic content. A group of monkeys is referred to as a “troop.”
Bananas functions as the gain control, Curiosity sets the output level, Grunt adjusts the low-frequency EQ, and Screech controls the high-frequency EQ.
The pedal is equipped with the patent-pending, dual-sided StagePlate system. When shipped, the rubber skid pad side is exposed, providing a stable grip on most surfaces during footswitch activation. The StagePlate can be flipped to expose the opposite side, which features a pre-installed hook fastener designed to mate with standard loop material for secure pedalboard mounting.
